London is well-known for its office space scene, with some of the highest rental rates the world over. Despite rocketing rental rates, many companies are still investing heavily in their work spaces from great property to creative office designs and fit outs, and indeed there are many good reasons to do so.
A startup boom is definitely underway in the capital, and rather unsurprisingly, several have been named in a recent survey that seeks to identify the coolest work spaces in the city.
From Camden to Westminster, Kensal Rise to Shoreditch, the most exciting office spaces are not those of Google, nor those of Facebook (though their offices are pretty amazing it must be admitted), as they are all those of startups, and in most cases, successful ones too.
Forward Internet Group takes first prize with their headquarters in Camden that have been described as the 'epitome of cool'. Decorated with a selection of strange and unusual statues, including a very funky giant lobster, this innovative company has had the good sense to provide their employees with some ultra-cool amenities, including a music room, the 'standard' table tennis facilities, and even yoga classes.
Innocent Drinks, with their superbly themed headquarters at Kensal Rise, have been awarded second place. With fake grass flooring, long communal picnic tables, and outdoor play area, you could be forgiven for thinking you were outside on a sunny summer day.
Taking the bronze was Second Home, headquartered near Spitalfields Market in East London. One of the most spectacular high-tech office spaces in the city, it has been expressly designed for the 21st Century, if not the 22nd. Hail the future!
London continues to amaze and excite with the work spaces of the most prominent startups headquartered in the city. And hopefully, with a strong economy and plenty of viable opportunities, we will see many more startups calling London home.
