Shortlists for Northern Design Awards provide double whammy

Saracen has been shortlisted for two awards at this year's prestigious Northern Design Awards, with the company sitting as a finalist in the Commercial Interior Design Practice and the Innovative Design categories.

Both accolades are in recognition of work completed by our Northern office and are a credit to the effort put in by the team, maintaining the high level of professional performance and attention to detail that has become synonymous with our brand nationally.

Work completed by the team on behalf of one of our long-term clients, a global environmental services provider, at its office in York earned us finalist status in the Innovative Design category.

The project included the design of open-plan spaces and fully-glazed meeting rooms plus the installation of feature ceiling rafts to accommodate lighting projectors, power and drop-down screens. The high-concept design centred around preserving the building's industrial features of exposed steel beams and bare brick and complementing the look with exposed concrete ceilings and services. Bespoke bulk-heads were built to allow for the vaulted ceilings and support the glass screens of the meeting rooms.

Both this project and other projects completed by us in the North have had the desired 'wow' effect to ensure us a place on the Commercial Design Practice shortlist as well so we are waiting, in anticipation, for the results.

If you should see us at the celebrations at the Devonshire Dome in Buxton on the 21st November, we will no doubt be raising our glasses and enjoying the fizz regardless of the outcome. To be shortlisted twice within a year of the Northern office's inception is no mean feat and we are all very proud of our team in the North. This is most definitely the start of things to come…
